“The Earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they
that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.”
Donna Godwin of Hillsville, Virginia designed the logo for 2009-2010 using the theme of Psalm 24:1-2, "The Earth is the Lord's".
The design shows us the earth being pierced by the cross. The cross is embeddded into the earth to show that God is the Author and Creator of all. It's all His. We are His by accepting His Son, who died on the cross that is shown being buried into the earth. He was pierced by our transgressions and we are pierced by His undying and unfailing love. In Ezekiel, God is described as 'flickering like fire, a burning flame shining,' hence the red cross. Note that it covers the entire earth to signify that it is reaching the ends of the earth by our missionaries, and by women like us who support those missionaries. The earth IS the Lord's and it is up to us to tell the world!" Godwin said.
2011 UPDATES - Each month the U.M.W. purchase Angel Food Baskets for the needy. If anyone knows someone in need, please see Jana Terry or Carrie Nail.
U.M.W. is no longer collecting magazines or pull tabs. We
will be pursuing new mission interests for 2011.
U.M.W. will meet at the church on Thurs., Feb. 3rd at 6:00 p.m. The program will be "Call to Prayer and Self-Denial." We ask that each member bring valentines addressed to our
shut-ins. A list of current shut-ins will be placed on a table in the Narthex. If you have a name of someone that you would like added to the shut-in list, please give it to Carrie Nail.
Please continue to bring your Campbell's soup labels in for ALPS. You may place them in the basket on the table in
the atrium.
2011 Officers as well as project information will be posted around the 3rd week in March.
