Mike Cutshaw—Senior Pastor.
Mike and his wife, Brenda, come to Trinity from the Cleveland District. Mike is a native of East Tennessee, born in Greene County and later moved to Kingsport. During his 18 year career in law enforcement he served at several churches in youth ministry and also worked at summer camps. Feeling the call of God, Mike entered full time ministry in 2002 and served in Kingsport area before moving to the Cleveland District. Mike earned degrees from Northeast State Community College, Tusculum College and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. Mike and Brenda have two grown children, Steve and Amy, and a granddaughter, Kayla.
Mitchell Elston– Director of Student and Family Ministries.
Mitch was born in Michigan. He and his wife Eden, met during high school in Illinois. They married in 2010 and lived in North Carolina while he served in the USMC until 2015, when they moved to Tennessee. This is Mitch’s first full-time vocational position having come from a part-time position with the youth at Grace Baptist Church in Morristown. Mitch and Eden have 4 children, Titus, Astrid, Henrik, and Ingrid. Mitch completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Religion with Liberty University online and is completing his Master of Divinity with Liberty over the 2020-2021 school year. Mitch currently serves as a volunteer chaplain with Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Randy Greene – Music Director.
Randy spent his formative years here at Trinity UMC. He publicly professed Christ before his home congregation and was baptized at the age of 17. By the age of 18, Randy felt God’s call to part-time ministry. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, where he performed with the A Cappella Choir. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. He is currently a student at Lincoln Memorial University seeking a degree as an Education Specialist. Randy first accepted God’s call to serve as the Minister of Music and Youth at First United Methodist Church of Bulls Gap from 1993-1999. In 2001, Randy began to feel God’s call to return to the music ministry and accepted the position at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church, where he served from 2001-2007 and worked alongside the great church musician, Mrs. Peggy Bible. In October of 2007, Randy accepted God’s call to return to Trinity and work in the church that supported his entire family throughout the years. Randy teaches at Morristown East High School as the Choral Director and is the “Voice of the Hurricanes” for both football and basketball. He and his wife, Jaime, have two children, Madison and Noah. Randy and Jaime enjoy University of Tennessee sports, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Brandon Tilley – Pianist and Hand Bell Director.
Brandon is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is a graduate of Gibbs High School. Brandon is a graduate of Carson-Newman College. His major instrument is saxophone and minoring in voice.
Brandon is completing his 15th year of teaching and his 7th year as Director of Bands at Morristown East High School.
He is an active drum major clinician for marching contests and maintains a saxophone and conducting private studio. He has served Trinity UMC as pianist for 6 years and Director of the Hand Bell Choir for 3 years. He and his wife, Sarah, have one son, Paxton.
Jean Shaver – Organist.
Jean is a native of Oak Grove, Tennessee. After graduating from Portland High School, she moved to East Tennessee and attended Carson Newman College where she focused her studies on music and religion. She married in 1957 to Wally Shaver and they were married 50 years before he passed away in December 2007. Jean and Wally were two of the original charter members of Trinity UMC. She has been playing the piano or the organ since 1960, when the church was started. She has been very active in the UMW and choir. She has one daughter, Amy, three grandchildren; Leigh Ann Evans (Mitch), Rachael Mangum and Charlie Mangum plus her miniature Schnauzer, Duchess.
Jana Terry – Children’s Director.
Born and raised in middle Tennessee, Jana graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science in 1993 and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Nashville School of Law in 1999. While attending NSL she met the love of her life, Brack. They practiced law together in his family’s firm until starting a family of their own. Jana has been on maternity-leave ever since. She takes pride in being the taxi driver for the couple’s children, John Robert and Alex, and their loudest fan. Jana grew up in the Methodist church and found her love of service to the church from her dad. She has served in various positions at Trinity for over 22 years, but her passion is for children’s ministries. She is strongly convicted in sharing the good news of Jesus with children. “I believe it is so important to create an environment where children know they are loved and accepted for who they are. My goal is to make Trinity Kidz a place where seeds are planted so children can grow in their faith and love for Jesus.”
Joan Kite Greene – Assistant Children’s Director.
Joan is a retired elementary school teacher with 34 years’ experience with the Hawkins County School System. Also worked for WSCC for two years and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. for two years. Baptized at the First Methodist Church in Bulls Gap at 6 weeks of age, became a member at 10 years of age. Belonged to Trinity UMC for 40 years. Married to Randall Greene for 36 years before his passing. Children: Randy, Director of Music at Trinity and Principal at Miller-Boyd Alternative School; Katy, producer at Jewelry Television; daughter-in-law, Jaime, principal at Lincoln Heights Middle School; grandchildren, Madison, student at WSCC and Noah, student at East.
Doyle Wolfe – Maintenance.
Doyle was born in Hancock County, TN and raised in Roane County. After three years in the army, he returned to work various jobs in Hamblen County. Later he entered college, graduating with a B.S. degree in Education. He taught school in Hamblen County School System until retiring in 2007. He is married, and has two sons, one grandson in Heaven and one granddaughter attending WSCC.
Jessica Poole – Audio/Visual Coordinator. Jessica joined the Trinity staff in June of 2013. She comes to Trinity from Liberty Hill UMC, where she volunteered as a sound technician for many years. Jessica graduated Morristown East High School before acquiring her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Carson-Newman College in 2011. Jessica is in her sixth year of teaching and currently serves as Director of Bands at Jefferson Middle School in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
